The Format of the General English Paper

                General English

The exam consists of two papers. 
 Time: 3 hours         Paper 01.    Marks-100
Part A - Grammar (40 marks)
*prepositions
*verb forms
*question formation
*jumbled words
*combining sentences ....etc

Part B - Comprehension (20 marks)
*guessing the meaning of a sentence (mcq)
*short reading passages (2)
*poem

Part C- summarizing (10 marks)
Part D- Writing (30 marks)
  * informal letter. * formal letteter

      Paper 2. Time 2 & 1/2 hours 100 marks
Part A - Vocabulary (25 marks)
*word completion      
*matching similar words and phrases
*sentence construction using a given set of words etc...
Part B- Dialogue (25 marks)
*dialogue completion 
* a guided dialogue
* free dialogue etc...
Part C- Comprehension (30 marks)
*2 passages
Part D- Writing (20 marks)

Paper 1 - 100. Paper 2- 100
 Final Mark-  200 ÷ 2 = 100

This is the first step in preparing for an exam. You must have an understanding of the structure of the question paper.
